New Game + is a game mode released with the Adventure Update. It is only available after completing the game normally first, after which a New Game + save can be created based on the regular save. Multiple New Game + files can be created using the same base save.

Beginning New Game +[ | ]

Upon beginning New Game +, the tutorial dungeon is skipped and Will begins with the Broom Spear +1 and Training Short Sword +1 outside the shop with Zenon.

Kept from Base Save File[ | ]

The following are copied over from the save file used to initiate New Game +.

  • Some of the inventory
    • Money
    • Any weapons, armor, potions, and amulets anywhere in the inventory, equipped or not
      • Curiously, amulets will automatically transform into their "+1" forms (which have identical functionality), but the rest will not.
      • However, the items in the last two slots in the bottom right will be deleted to make room for the Broom Spear +1 and Training Short Sword +1. The Training Short Sword +1 is automatically equipped into the primary weapon slot, bumping the equipped weapon into the main inventory. Your items may be rearranged, so to ensure items you want are not deleted, leave 2 slots empty.
      • This is the only way to obtain regular items in New Game +.
    • Any other kind of item is simply lost, so you are required to start over on obtaining crafting ingredients from the dungeons
  • The current calendar date (but not any records of past quests)
  • Some achievement statistics that are not associated with a particular save file at all. See Achievements.

Reset[ | ]

The following are reset to the same state as the beginning of regular new save file (everything else).

  • Dungeon/story progress
  • Shop chest contents
  • Town and shop upgrades
  • Familiars
  • Notebook
  • Zenon's campfire dialogue
  • etc.

Changes[ | ]

Enemies will deal more damage and have more health.

To compensate for this and the fact that the player can bring over top-tier equipment, all items are replaced with their "+1" versions.

  • Their prices are 1 coin less than 5.6 times the price of the regular version. For example, an item selling for 1000 normally will sell for 5599 in New Game +. This also applies to the Forge, Wooden Hat, Hawker, and Le Retailer.
    • Item costs for crafting are the same, except of course that the +1 versions of the items must be used
  • +1 weapons deal more damage and +1 armor gives more health. Base tier 4 equipment is approximately equal to tier 0 +1 eqiupment.
  • +1 potions heal more

Town and shop upgrades are instead 6.6 times more expensive (minus 1 coin).

A new weapon path becomes available: "Pirate" weapons, which are a hybrid of the other two paths. These do identical base damage to the top path, but may be enchanted (using the matching Jelly as well as Empowering Crystals) to also have an elemental effect like the bottom path (or using Water Sphere for only an identical damage increase, although this is more or less useless as the player is very likely to at least have Rich Jelly to use). The enchantment increases the base damage more than the top weapon path's first enchantment, but Pirate weapons cannot be enchanted again (except to change which elemental effect is added, which does not increase the damage further).

Tips[ | ]

  • The increased price of purchases can easily be countered by bringing over a huge amount of money. This also helps to give a huge boost to the pace of the game.
    • Consider selling all stored items before beginning New Game +.
    • The Banker can be used to achieve exponential savings growth if used correctly.
    • With enough money, the Forge, Wooden Hat, Hawker, Shop Level 1, Average Sale Box, Silver Cash Register, King's Bed, and Medium Chest can be unlocked immediately after completing the initial Golem Dungeon and unlocking the Pendant, and Le Retailer after re-entering the Golem Dungeon one time.
    • Once Le Retailer is unlocked, most farming for crafting ingredients can be skipped by purchasing from it. With luck, it may even be possible to skip ahead a weapon tier if the items are unlocked in Le Retailer by obtaining them from a room of the dungeon that is of the next culture.
    • Selling items becomes a waste of time if you have enough money.
  • Beginning New Game + without tier 4 armor is not a good idea (although this is unlikely to happen by accident as one would have to remove the armor intentionally to do this), since Will is not given equivalent armor to begin with (unlike being given the Training Short Sword +1).
  • Enchanted tier 4 weapons are slightly better than tier 0 +1 weapons, so they may offer a slightly easier early game.
  • As soon as tier 1 +1 equipment is crafted, your base tier 4 equipment can be sold since it is not used in crafting the next tier of weapon.
  • Unlike other potions, Hyper potions are functionally identical to their +1 counterparts because they restore full health instead of a fixed amount. Thus, they will remain useful throughout the New Game + playthrough, so consider bringing over a large supply of them (potentially as many as 95).
  • It is a good idea to bring over your favorite amulets, because you will be able to use them from the start. There is even enough inventory space to bring all of the non-DLC amulets.
