Desert Dungeon is one of the Dungeons in the game Moonlighter. It is the third Dungeon.

This dungeon contains three floors followed by the Desert Guardian boss fight. Once the Desert Guardian has been defeated for the first time, the Tech Dungeon will be opened to the player.

Occasionally, a single room of the Tech Dungeon may spawn, allowing players to collect some higher valued items.

Lore[ | ]

In the Desert Dungeon, there are a couple of ways to learn about the Dungeons and how they came about or what can be found in them. One is through logs found at the Hot Springs that are usually one or two levels behind the mini-boss fought to go up another level. The other is through Crazy Pete's notes found at his campsites, where he jotted down information he found out whilst adventuring before his death.

Hot Spring Logs[ | ]

Data Entry 103 - The recent store shortages are no longer considered errors in keeping. Materials and various tools are actually vanishing on a daily basis. A guard program is being created to keep an eye out for the intruders.
~ Hot Spring Logs, Floor 1

Data Entry 125 - According to this month's report, the most valuable items are being left untouched in our warehouses. Only tools used to build our autonomous guard bodies are taken.
~ Hot Spring Logs, Floor 2

Data Entry 196 - These damned thieves are really efficient. The second a room is left unmanned, it is pillaged. Only our autonomous units can remain to guard our wares!
~ Hot Spring Logs, Floor 3

Crazy Pete's Notes[ | ]

Oh my... I can now confirm that at the bottom of every Dungeon is a GIANT beast. I WOULD like to spend further time looking into whatever they may be guarding, but something else caught my eye today. I witnessed a new creature near the aforementioned colossus. It was not concerned with me, so it wasn't a Guard. It was a smaller... orange variant of the green monster... The one that occasionally chases me if I spend too much time in a Dungeon. Which deserves more attention honestly. Why is THAT thing around? But this small Orange Creature... It wasn't guarding treasure... and was completely oblivious of me... What was it doing down here?
~ Crazy Pete, Desert Notebook
One thing is clear! These Dungeons are arranged to assist in the ransacking of them. But there is a glitch in the system, an... anomaly working against their design. The Guards. They work autonomously, without thought. Their only concern, the defence of the treasures in the Dungeon. Which seems in direct conflict with the Dungeon's sole purpose. I'd wager whatever places the Guards here... is separate from what forms the Dungeons...
~ Crazy Pete, Desert Notebook
Further separation between the original Dungeon divers has occured. The divide is clear. The divide is distinct. On one side you have the adrenaline fueled, glory seeking danger junkies. This group calls themselves Heroes. On the other side you have the Merchants. These responsible ones view Dungeon diving as a job. Less about the glory, more about finding the most valuable item and... GETTING OUT OF THERE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE! At which point they set up shop in town with their new goodies for sale. One is possibly "braver" than the other. The other possibly more "intelligent". But I'll just let you come to your own conclusion on this one.
